True Grit: Bordeaux’s organic revolution

Château Clarisse, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, Cuvée Allegria 2020 is among the twenty wines selected by Decanter in its report on environmental practices in the Bordeaux vineyards, with a score of 95/100.

In this feature on Bordeaux’s environmental transition, Decanter selects twenty wines, mostly from the Right Bank. Cuvée Allegria 2020, from a plot on Castillon’s clay-limestone plateau, achieves the highest score in the selection, alongside two other wines.

The taster describes an intense nose of ripe black fruit, blackcurrant, pepper, liquorice and rose petal, a broad palate carried by velvety tannins, and a finish lifted by clove, aniseed and cedar. She notes the vintage’s ‘amazing purity, focus and finesse’ and places its drinking window between 2025 and 2040.

By Georgie Hindle, Decanter, 2 July 2025.
