Frequently asked questions
Château Clarisse is a family-owned wine estate founded in 2009 by Olivia and Didier Le Calvez, who named it after their daughter. Situated in Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion on Bordeaux's Right Bank, the estate is managed by Tiphanie BONDU, Head of Cellar & Operations, alongside consulting oenologist Julien Viaud. Approximately half of its production is exported, and its wines are served at restaurants including Jean-Georges in New York, Benoit in Paris and George's on the Île de Ré.
Château Clarisse is located at 6 route de Lussac, 33570 Puisseguin, Gironde. The estate is a 10-minute drive from Saint-Émilion, 20 minutes from Libourne and 50 minutes from Bordeaux. The nearest railway station is Libourne, and the nearest airport is Bordeaux-Mérignac.
Château Clarisse produces four cuvées currently available for purchase: Château Clarisse, Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, the estate's signature blend; Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, from two 75-year-old plots; Cuvée Allegria, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, made from 100% Merlot; and Clarisse Chardonnay, Vin de France. A fifth cuvée, Cuvée Franche, will be introduced at a later date.
Château Clarisse made the bold choice to plant Chardonnay on Bordeaux terroir to produce a fresh, aromatic white wine. Grown across 4.3 hectares in seven plots, its first vintage was 2023, awarded 93/100 by Andreas Larsson and a Gold Medal at the 2025 Challenge des Terroirs. As Chardonnay is not authorised under the Bordeaux appellation, the wine is sold as Vin de France. In time, Chardonnay is intended to represent 30-40% of the vineyard.
Château Clarisse's vineyard stands on Oligocene starfish limestone (calcaire à astéries), a renowned Right Bank plateau that lends freshness and minerality to the wines. The estate extends over 24 hectares, of which 16 are in production, four are woodland and four lie fallow. The red grape varieties are predominantly Cabernet Franc (50%) and Merlot (45%), with smaller plantings of Carménère, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The estate practises sustainable viticulture, with hand harvesting, agroforestry and hedgerows.
Yes, Château Clarisse welcomes visitors throughout the year, by appointment. The estate offers a range of small-group experiences: tours of the vines, vat room and barrel cellar with guided tastings; a tasting of three wines from two appellations; or wine and chocolate pairings. To extend your visit, Villa Héloïse offers accommodation just a short walk from the vines, in rooms and suites overlooking the vineyard.
The Château Clarisse Wine Club offers three annual membership options: Collectionneur, Noble and Réserve. Depending on their membership, members receive a selection of three to twelve bottles each year, enjoy 20-30% off the online shop, access to exclusive allocations and complimentary nights at Villa Héloïse. From April to September, they come together for a monthly event inspired by the rhythm of the vineyard.
Château Clarisse wines are available from the estate's online shop, with home delivery throughout France; international deliveries are available on request.
