Floral element to the nose, a bit like potpourri – nicely aromatic. This has great freshness, showing bright, juicy strawberry and red cherry, with soft but present tannins that give a little weight and texture. Not a showstopper but energetic, approachable and easy to drink. Pretty, harmonious and with a minty fresh finish. Drinking Window 2022 - 2026

The estate being named after owners Didier and Olivia Le Calvez’s daughter, ‘Allegria’ is from a small plot on the high clay-limestone plateau in Castillon. Intense nose full of dark ripe fruit; blackcurrants, pepper, liquorice and rose petals. Juicy and filling. Velvety tannins expand the mouthfeel with 22 amazingly persistent fruit. Plump yet soft – amazing purity, focus and finesse, yet it’s got a kick of clove, aniseed and cedar spice touches on the finish. Drink 2025-2040 Alc 15%

James Suckling - 93-94/100
En primeur - Château Clarisse, Vieilles Vignes - 2025
This shows an appealing balance of concentration, precise dark fruits and focused tannins. Saline, with a stony texture on the finish complemented by fresh acidity.
Vinous (Neal Martin) - 90-92/100
Château Clarisse, Vieilles Vignes - 2025
The 2025 Cuvée Vieilles Vignes actually comes from 45-year-old vines. Decent freshness and purity of fruit on the nose here, black plum and bilberry, quite floral, with a hint of black chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft tannins, rounded in texture, quite peppery in style, with just a little edginess on the finish. Give it a couple of years in bottle.
