A rich yet linear red with notes of crushed stones, blackberries, bark and cassis. Ripe blue fruit framed by firm tannins and a medium to full body. Chewy. From organically grown grapes.

The 2020 Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is a deep, fleshy wine. Blackberry jam, chocolate, mocha, licorice, spice, and espresso all flesh out. Clarisse’s old vines cuvée offers notable depth and complexity, along with plenty of overall presence.

The 2020 Cuvée Vieilles Vignes has a smear of dark chocolate marking the nose, underneath copious of red fruit, a little high-toned yet retaining delineation. The palate is medium bodied with some oak 8 tannins to be subsumed on the entry. This is well balanced, thanks to a fine bead of acidity, and cohesive with a touch of white pepper on the finish. This will do nicely.

Cut from the same cloth, but a step up, the 2020 Château Clarisse Vieilles Vignes has beautiful cassis and black cherry fruits as well as notes of cedarwood, violets, and floral nuances. This medium to full- bodied, elegant, nicely structured 2020 is going to need 2-3 years of bottle age and will drink nicely over the following decade.

Inky dark purple core and hue. The nose offers fine oak, vanilla and cardamom with wild berries, cassis and kirsch. Very good concentration and freshness combined, layers of unctuous dark fruit and powdery tannin, ample and mouth filling with fine nuance and finely spicy fruit leading to a very long and lingering finish. Very nicely done.
