An intense blackcurrant-and-green-pepper nose – but sweet, like some kind of weird Fat-Duck-style bonbon. Big, ripe cassis fruit on the palate, cocooned in sooty tannins. Dry, firm but reasonably trestrained tannic structure. Sandalwoo and freshly planed pine. Full-bodied but has kept its focus. Was much more melded on day three, with the fruit resolving into the tannins. If you’re going to drink this early, decant.
Note: 16.5/20
